It is a great game and, please, don't take wrong my critique. This game is already 100 out of 100! I just want to make it 101 out of 100!
So I played in 4k UHD resolution for an hour and this is my list of things that bother me so far (in order of experiencing these problems):
1. When you point at icon in menu, it would be great to see what this icon means.. or maybe write under that this is "Create a movie" or "Settings"
2. Ocean's Eleven available in Source Material.
3. It is not clear if I hired director for the movie or not. After director agrees with his/her salary, I still can hire other directors for the same project. Hiring other directors must not be possible if you already chose one.
4. After purchasing script and clicking on script, if you click hire director without choosing director, you get message "Test message" and then game eventually crashes. Button "Hire director" must not be available unless you select desired director. And after selecting needed director, you must automatically jump to casting process. It is confusing and unclear if you hired director or not. If you need to click after casting or not.
5. If the first thing you do in cast window is to click "to hire actor" button, then your director gets automatically hired for the role and game crashes after a while. Button "to hire actor" must not be available unless you click needed actor.
6. It would be great to type number of budget in each category. Not just scroll.
7. CGI budget can't be a round number like 10000000, only 10100000, 10200000.
8. Whenever loading is in progress, there must be an indication like spinning circle or progress bar (at least after pressing New Game, otherwise you think that the game froze and you start panicking, clicking around.)
9. Maybe some free domain music or something like this? Free sound effects for awards ceremony?
10. After you get message about "Opening Weekend", it would be great to have some button like "OK" to go back to home screen instead of searching for home screen button.
11. In movies report (inside "Hollywood Insider"), we don't need to see role names as big as name of actors/actresses. Maybe name of role could be less visible because it is not that important?
12. Back and forward buttons are confusing in "Hollywood Insider". It would be nice if they could work and actually show previous page inside "Hollywood Insider" that you we clicking.
13. Maybe you can move to next week from all windows, not just main window?
14. It would be great to have composers and cinematographers.
15. Instead of budget for cinematography, maybe we could choose between types of cameras like Canon Cinema Line would be 100,000. Red Digital Cinema would be 500,000. Arri Alexa would be 1,000,000. Arricam 35mm would be 2,000,000. Panaflex 65mm would be 5,000,000. And IMAX 70mm would be 10,000,000. I think it is more fun to know what you are paying for! Obviously you don't just pay for camera that they usually rent, but for the whole camera department, but still. It looks more fun, plus obviously working with film Panavision camera is more expensive than with digital Red Epic, unless you have 48 of them like in Hobbit movies!
Anyway, you got the idea!
16. Instead of budget for score, we could have list of composers. Like 1,000,000 for Alexandre Desplat, 3,000,000 for Hans Zimmer, and John Williams 5,000,000. Obviously, it includes recording and orchestra members, but still - more fun then just boring numbers. Also, 15,000,000 for music seems very unrealistic. I believe 5mil is a top. Of course, unless you buy couple of expensive songs by Radio Head.
17. Basically, each category in budget can be done in more fun way: Set & Props: Shooting in Los Angeles Studio is expensive vs. Shooting in Toronto is medium, shooting in Budapest studio is cheap.
18. "And the winner is" button is not highlighted well. When I point with cursor, i barely see change of text color. Same with "Next Category."
19. I can't see Lupita Nyong'o profile in "Hollywood Insider," it either shows me info of Lupe Perry or Lyndsy Fonseca.
20. As someone mentioned earlier, scrolling in movie info to see awards and cast is very tyring, it could be nice to see everything without need to scroll down.
21. No need to see "This Week", "This Year" and "Of All Time" in movie/people/awards report in "Hollywood Insider".
22. "News" button doesn't work in "Hollywood Reporter," but you probably know it.
23. Some actors win Oscar without even being nominated for Golden Globe. But overall it might happen, it is still realistic and I still love it.
24. Fiscal Year (arrows next to number of year should be opposite. ">" to move to next year, "<" to move to previous year.
For example, instead of "< 2017", it must be "2017 >"
25. Staff salaries jump between 3mil to 1mil each month. I don't know how it works. Should it be fixed price? Or you could maybe choose where you want your office to be. If it is Los Angeles, more pristige. But 3mil each month. If it is New York, less pristige but 2mil each month. Silicon Valley, even less prestige but only 1mil monthly rent!
26. Next to "Adaptation" and "Retelling buttons," you could have some info window to explain the difference.
27. Overall for script points - thumbs up, but it could be nice to have 1-2 points bonus with expensive screenwriter.
28. When writing script or making movie - there must be next button that will lead you to the next stage of production instead of clicking on top icons.
29. Maybe auto hire for writer and director?
30. Icon for casting seems like director's chair. I know cast members use them too, but it is too iconic for director. Maybe a silhouette of a head would be better?
31. There must be limit for main roles. 2-3 - MAXIMUM. For example, I purchased rights for The Walking Dead and according to script,
Rick is as important as 7 other dudes who I don't even know who they are. It must be only Rick who is the main. In general, it is too chaotic to have so many main roles in some scripts.
32. Advertisement budget is visible in "calculator menu". You can't change it unless production of movie is complete, so no need to see it before.
33. I would love to have an option to see only my studio's movies in Hollywood Inside instead of searching in the long list for my film.
34. Maybe have option to move between months than weeks? Or I didn't discover it yet?
35. Any way making studios release real films that belong to them or at least some of them? Let's say Disney makes another Toy Story or Frozen and you compete to them! Looks more fun than just random films. Anyway you use real studio's names, why not make them release real films?
36. You can't bankrupt! I lasted 3 years with a negative balance and game didn't end. It must be maximum one year with a negative balance.
37. Any way to delete saved games?
38. When I start a new game, it stars with some progress of the previous Save Game like Awards, Box Office and Date.
39. When you end game, top score report gets all messy with doubles and triples records. It happens during second, third game, etc.
40. When you click "New Game" but changed your mind to Load Game instead, there is no option of going back to start game menu.
41. If I press ESC button, game closes. Is it on purpose? I pressed it automatically several times thinking some window will close, but the whole game closed with all my progress!
I know it sounds like a roast, but it is just my vision! This game is excellent and playable even without fixing many things as soon as you discover your own playaround!
