You can already sort by race.

Currently fighting the urge to add nationalities for actors to the database, so you can cast Jane Austen adaption with an all-British cast. What do you think? I said from the start that I would love this. But wouldn't that be a lot of work to implement?

Hmm... I mean, I guess I could default them all to American and then adjust them over time. The database wouldn't be perfect, but that way it wouldn't delay the alpha release.

The goal is April. Although I just found out, I have a wisdom tooth that needs surgery, so that might delay things.

Added an empty database. From now on you should use this one for things you want to contribute to the main database. If you just want to edit the database for your own game you can use the normal version.

If you just want to edit the database for your own game you can use the normal version. Hmmm...for some reason the pics are not displaying now. I believe I'm doing something wrong. 160x200 PNG. I put it in the StreamingAssets Folder. I tried saving the pic in the following ways: FirstNameLastName FirstName LastName FirstName_LastName I'm pretty sure that0s how I was doing it, in the beginning, but the Editor does not show the Image.

FirstName LastName is the right format. 160x200 PNG and StreamingAssets Folder is also correct.
Do you have trouble with all the pics or just certain ones?

Downloaded the newer version of the editor, and it seems to be working fine now. Added some talent. Since there is no option, I will add cousins (and any other relatives that are not direct relatives) as Friends. By the way, since you are playing with the idea of adding nationalities, will I be able to modify the already added talent, as to assign nationalities? Or would I have to start over?

You would have to start over, I'm afraid. But I decided to put that feature on the to-do list for now. Instead I will focus on bug-fixing and balancing. I think you should be able to use the database you're editing now with the Alpha version, but keep in mind that these things can change at any time, since the game is still in development.

I'm back to work, so I can't really work on the game right now. Next free days are in the second half of March (I'm not even kidding), you can expect new updates then.

Update: I did this. Currently fighting the urge to add nationalities for actors to the database, so you can cast Jane Austen adaption with an all-British cast. What do you think? I really like this idea! Sometimes i set myself challenges to only use UK actors for certain films for realism, so that would be a nice addition - but only if you have time!

Soooo...I've been working on making my Database with the empty version. I got 2 Questions here.
1. The Fame Rating: I decided to put the talent in categories (mostly for the actors), to make it easier to assign them a Fame-rating. 90 and above would be reserved for People like Dwayne Johnson, Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt etc. (This is for those talents, that everybody seems to know) 80-89. People that can star in a movie, and are most likely know by most people. For Example: Tom Hardy, Chris Pratt, Liam Neeson. (These are already more faces than names) 70-79. People that can star in some Genre-Films and the most known of Character-Actors amd those that could lead a TV-Series. For Example: Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Chris Pine 60-69. Character-Actors and Stunt-People that could star in Genre-Movies (mostly Action) For Example: Tony Jaa, Iko Uwais, Stanley Tucci Everything below is a polite estimate. I base my ratings mostly on experiences. For example, I know who Iko Uwais is, most people don't. But as to not thow you in too much chaos, when I send you my DB, would those ratings be ok?
2. Since I'm also adding Marvel/DC/Image properties, I would like to know how you would prefer it. What I mean by this, is the following. I am adding the first Installments in a number of Properties, for example Superman. I have a google docs archive open, archiving the Issues that include the Storyline that I am adapting in it, plus their releasedates. Superman for example will include Action Comics Vol 1 #1 up to Action Comics Vol 1 #13. This seems arbitrary, but #13 marks the debut of the Ultra-Humanite, the first Villain that has some degree of relevancy in Superman-Lore.
Now to the Actual Question. In the case of characters that have their own comic, but had their debut in another title, I will not add them in the Database, but add them in the spreadsheet, indicating in which comic they had their Debut. Think Wolverine. He did not debut in his own comic, not even in a X-Men Comic. He actually appeared for the first time in Incredible Hulk Vol 1 #180. So in-database, there will not be a Wolverine Movie, as Wolverine himself, showed up for the first time in Hulk, but his solo-film would effectively be a Spin-Off from X-Men. If I remember right, we can create spin-offs and sequels in game, so it should be no problem to not include properties like Wolverine right away in the Database, right?

You're numbers are a little too high. This is of course pretty subjective, but as a rule of thumb I tried to estimate the following "If you would ask 100 random people (from the western world) about an actor/actress, how many people would recognize either their name or their face?". An exception are ex-A-Listers. People who used to be stars in the 70s, 80s or 90s, but have not worked on any big projects in the recent years. Their names and faces are still familiar to the general public, but they don't matter much in the industry anymore, so their fame rating is reduced. I would class it like this: 100-70: The big names, who have consistently starred in big movies as leads or important support actors in the last 10 years. 69-40: Established, but not stars. The people who play supporting or minor roles in big movies or main characters in smaller movies or tv shows. 39-20: Not that well know by the general public. Work on a regular basis, but mostly support or minor roles in small movies or tv shows. 0-14: Newcomers (most kids and teens) or people who only played a couple of noticeable roles on their career.
One source per property would be enough (as a basic template for movies based on that character), but if you want you can do more per property (maybe per story arc? Comics often have story arcs that include a whole number of issues, right?)
I think if a spin-off becomes it's own thing it should have it's own source. For example the character Huckleberry Finn first appears in "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer", so technically it's a Tom Sawyer spin-off, but "Adventures of Huckleberry Finn" is a different story with new themes and a different cast, so both are represented in the database.
