Hey Guys! Before I release the Editor I need to make a decision on an issue I have been contemplating for months. When you create a Script you habe to choose a Plot Type (for example: Quest, Underdog, Rags to Riches, Coming of Age, Love, Revolt, Survival, Riddle) and a Theme (for example: Teamwork, Hope, Revenge, Circle of Life, Corruption, Rebellion, Loss, Justice, Family). However, play-testing the game and adding source material to the database, I found it hard to classify my own ideas and existing works into these categories. Also, I haven't found a way to integrate these two things into the games algorithm meaning your choice has no influence on the success of your movie. It does absolutely nothing at the moment.
As I see it, there are two options:
1. Instead of making them separate items I could add the choices to the Topics List (Basically what the story is about, ranging from cats to domestic violence. Different topics appeal to different viewer groups), so you could still add these things to your script if it fits your idea but your not forced to make a choice.
2. Keep Theme and Plot Type, but come up with a way to make them meaningful. Any suggestions?

Keep Theme and Plot Type, but come up with a way to make them meaningful. Any suggestions? For me, I think option 1 is would be the way to go. I think the categories you have listed under both "plot type" and "theme" naturally fit under the "topics" banner. If I choose "underdog," "cat," "revenge," and "quest" from the topics list, that tells me what the theme and plot type of my story is - I don't need a separate "plot-type" heading. In other words, the topics tell you everything about the movie. As an aside, if plot type and theme were to stay meaningless categories, then I think a simple text box where you can type in a summary of what the movie is about would be the way to go - that solves the problem of making things fit. I would rather describe my movie that way than categories that may or may not fit my vision of the movie.

Also for me, option 1 is the best.
