Don't panic, I'm not abandoning the project. Quite the opposite: I decided to rebuild Film Studio Tycoon in Unity. I thought about this a lot. Many, many, maaaany hours went into the current version of FST, so starting over feels a bit like I wasted a lot of time. However, being completely honest with myself, I'm not going to be able to finish it if I don't do something drastic. Fixing certain problems are just way above my skill level. Using a game engine like Unity instead of trying to do everything from scratch should help with that. There as also the aspect that my coding skills were super limited when I started the project, so most of the code is a jumbled mess. I'm by no means an expert programmer now, but I greatly improved and just looking at ten thousands of lines of bad code is so frustrating. I could try to fix it, but the games entire foundation is so messy that I think starting from scratch would actually take less time. So that's what I'm going to do. It's a drastic step, but I'm confident that this is the right decision. I really, really want to finish the game so I can share it with you and I feel like this is the only way that's going to happen.
I already cashed out and bought some extensions for Unity (one for handling the database and one for UI needs). I already managed to connect the Database to Unity and a now recreating the Menus (If you had any complains about the UI design, now would be a good time to voice them).
I hope you'll understand and have a little more patience.

Things are coming along nicely. I was already able to implement a couple of "Quality of Life" UI Improvements.

Is it possible to search in the topics by writing a word without scrolling with the mouse every time?

Not yet, but I will look into it. Topics are drag-and-drop now though. It feels much more natural than in the original version. I decided to add relationships to Dossier (before there was no way to look them up). I'm starting to get comfortable with customizing the UI Elements I bought. I quite like how the Award Overview looks (the awards displayed are test data. David Lynh didn't start a second career as an actor)

Looks fantastic. I like the award screen as well.
That brings up another question - will there be a mechanism for linking director-actors (i.e. Ben Affleck, Kenneth Branagh, etc) such that all of their awards appear under one profile? Or will there be separate profiles for the director version and the actor version?

At the moment it shows only the relevant awards, so when you're looking for a director you will only see the awards they won as a director. I thought about doing it this way in the Production Menu (when you pick a director, writer or actor) and do it the way you mentioned, all awards the person ever won, no matter the category, in the Database Menu (like an in-game imdb). How does that sound?

I re-designed the PopUps, because the generic style kinda broke the immersion. They now look like smartphone text messages, like you are receiving texts from your staff/actors/etc. What do you think?

Sooo... the Editor is coming along nicely. Adding things works fine (at least for me, fingers crossed it works on your PCs as well), but I want to add the possibility to edit existing database entries before I share the editor with you guys.

Real quick maybe you've answered this already but are u gonna include past real life credits and awards or only ones made and earned in game?
