Time to show off some screenshots. Some of this stuff will look very familiar of you played the first game, but I included these shots anyway to show you the new art direction of the UI.
New additions are the runtime slider (important for scheduling the programming of you tv channel) and the "animated" check box (because animated movie are such a popular demand).
Now things get interesting. Script Points (and sliders to adjust them) are gone. Instead there is a new feature called "Script Features". You will get to pick two stand out features for your movie. These script features will provide a bonus to certain aspects of a movie, for example artistic value or mass appeal. Some of these features will go especially well with certain genres (think "action heavy" for an action movie). If you find a good combination you will get an additional bonus, but it's totally possible to make interesting combinations, too. (Want a character driven action movie with deep themes? Try it out!).
I think this new way of doing things is a big improvement. Picking those two special focus features for your script are more impactful gameplay-wise than fiddling with the exact same sliders for every movie. It also feels more natural to think of your script as "A lighthearted, character driven comedy" or a "Fast paced thriller with twist ending" than "a script with 3 points in dialogue and 2 points in complexity and 5 points in relationship".
Creating roles works pretty much exactly the same. The UI feels a bit more intuitive, though.
Choosing a writer should look familiar, too...
This however is new! You can now negotiate terms with writer (and directors).
Before you greenlight the script you'll get a short summary. You can check one last time if you are happy with your choices and if you forgot a step the game will tell you what's missing (and won't let you continue with the project until you fixed it).
Okay, that's it for today.
If you have any questions or suggestions, feel free to ask!
